Education and Technology
People make the claim that Education has been tainted by technology. It's true that to some degree, technology has changed the way teachers teach. When I was in school, we were fascinated when teachers put their entire lesson on PowerPoint. It was "cool" to not have to read the lesson from a textbook. However, I do think that technology has changed things for the better in the classroom.
For one, the biggest improvement is that students don't have to carry as much weight with them. Chromebooks and iPads can replace multiple textbooks and workbooks, reducing the weight we had to carry as kids.
Two, Education is changing and that's a good thing. Automation will be the new future, like it or not. The world changes and we must change with it, or risk becoming obsolete. There is a reason Linux changed drastically in the last 5 years. If it didn't, I don't think it would still be around.
Finally, Technology gives educators more control over how they teach and they can update things on the fly. Instead of waiting until the district orders more or new textbooks, teachers and students have access to updated information instantly. This improves the educational process and allows the most accurate information to be taught, now.
